The who, what, when, where, why and HUH? behind this chaos
What: I make so many things! I have ADHD so I'm always trying out new things and because I'm a creative person, I usually fall in love with the thing and then I make it my personality trait for like a month! The hobby hyper-fixation is both a blessing and a curse!
But the meat and potatoes of why you’re here:
I started with crocheting and knitting, then decided to try make some jewelry, then I started painting again! I love mixing different mediums together and trying new things!
Life is about learning and having fun - and I like to make a mess while doing it!
When: The "Official" beginning was back in 2012, when I left an extremely toxic home environment and started out with whatever I could fit into a few suitcases. I needed a way to help make ends meet - and "Rachael's Creations" was brought to life! But I've always been a maker-of-things. I love using my hands to paint, build, draw, create, and whatever other synonyms you can come up with!
But I'm pretty sure my heart lies with abstract fluid art. I love painting something that isn’t a thing - to envision something and turn it into a reality. I think it's pretty cool.
Where:Why:
Art is incredibly therapeutic for me, and I quite often use it to get the things that don't make sense in my head, to make sense in the real world.
Being a c-PTSD survivor and someone who is neurospicy, verbal expression or emotional expression can be very difficult for me. Art helps bridge the gap in a way that fuels my soul!
I’m also a huge fan of spreading joy… and I’ve been told my art does that. Sooooo that’s kinda cool too!
How:A magician never reveals their tricks ;) When it comes to them fiber arts: I love working with wool-free yarns! Wool is itchy. I don’t like itchy. So I don’t like wool. Plus you can’t really wash wool things without them shrinking like crazy! I like to assume that everyone else is as lazy as I am, so I like creating products that are easy to use, easy to clean, and just plain easy.
Except for my hand-painted coffee mugs. Laziness, dishwashers and a hand-painted mug do not make a handsome combo,.
Which leads us into the fine-art stuff! I used to do a ton of painting with acrylics and drawings with charcoal and/or graphite… but my bread & butter has to be alcohol ink. It’s just so unpredictable and chaotic and beautiful and mesmerizing... Kind of like me!
Huh?:
In March 2020, my husband and I welcomed a beautiful baby girl into our family who keeps us on our toes! She's my favourite person in the entire world, and I love being her Mom! We also have two flufferbutt pups, Rocket and Zuri!
This dream helps me provide my daughter with the love and opportunities I didn't get to have as a child - so thank you so much for coming along mt journey of healing and art and chaos and yet somehow calmness and peace.
I also am very fond of tacos, pizza and pickled beets.
